Any animal, person and child have a greater amount of freedom when they are in their original intended environment. They may get used to being outside of their natural intended environment and actually think that that’s where they need to be. A Child who is born in a cage may think that being inside a cage is normal but it’s not. You see true freedom for humans is not about not having a master, it actually depends on WHO you master is. You see it’s impossible to not have a master.

Deitrich Bonhoffer said the following: “We long for freedom, but create oppression. We strive for ease, but make it hard for ourselves. We seek to make our own way, yet become lost in the process. We run from God, but create our own idolatry. Therefore, we need to surrender to Christ to find peace. We need to embrace God’s words and ways in order to find true liberty. We need to walk the narrow way of obedience to find true fulfillment. We need to relinquish our own way, which finally becomes the way of sorrow, and enter the freedom Christ has won for us.”

Our natural intended environment is in the presence of God serving him. Paul in the book of Romans identifies himself as servants of Jesus Christ. Only in serving Christ and embracing his servant hood position did he find true happiness. Romans 6:22 “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” In our fathers house is where our soul finds rest, in embracing all that he offers us, in putting aside our own wants and desires. Our own wants and desires only drive us to another master whom is the liar and deceiver of this world, our own wants and desires take us to idolatry and addictions that destroy us and our families, take us to the god of self-fulfillment. We are captives of our environment, upbringing, human deficiencies, dysfunctional homes and personal situations we are living in. Only God can bring us home to our natural intended environment where our heart is fulfilled and we begin to live our freedom under God’s captivity. I want to be captivated by Him, take me Lord and let me serve you; I want to be in my father’s house.

Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
